Project objectives

The main objective of the project is to use an interdisciplinary approach to explore and evaluate the state and perspectives of identity discourse in Croatian primary education. Other objectives are:

  • To explore and define selected Croatian traditional regions by analyzing geographical, historical, natural science and heritage elements that shape regional identity.
  • To analyze teaching methods and the representation of homeland, identity and heritage themes (geographic, historical, natural science) in national curricula and educational practice.
  • To develop a theoretical model for identifying and evaluating key elements of the spatial and cultural identity of traditional regions, synthesizing geographical, historical and natural science knowledge.
  • To explore the integration of minority identities into the educational process with the aim of encouraging intercultural dialogue and improving educational experiences.
  • To create innovative, interdisciplinary educational content and teaching materials based on tradition, heritage of local and regional space for primary schools.
  • Empower teachers and schools to integrate identity and heritage content through professional development.
  • Pilot and evaluate the developed educational model and materials in partner schools in selected regions and disseminate results and examples of good practice at the national level.
